Nothing makes you want what you used to have — but complained about when they changed the price — like a dog-ate-my-homework re-branding plan such as the one for Netflix/Qwikster.
So. Straight out of the New Coke playbook, Netflix is now giving us back what we had before: one brand. With the exception that the price changes are still in effect.
It is clear that for many of our members two websites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVDs.
This means no change: one website, one account, one password… in other words, no Qwikster.
While the July price change was necessary, we are now done with price changes.
The only problem is that Netflix got the play wrong. They should have introduced both the price changes and Qwikster and when everyone complained, they should have backpedaled, kept the price changes and gotten rid of the Qwikster brand. But whatever, the effect is the same.
Just better check to see if the streaming video now comes with corn syrup instead of sugar.
